Invitation: What is the new in New Defence?
We welcome you to join a webinar on New Defence, organised by Eurodefense Finland in cooperation with the Digital Defence Ecosystem on Thursday, October 3, at 16.00 – 18.00 (EEST, Helsinki).
Powered by digitalisation and following a similar line of development as in the space industry, new players, approaches, and technologies are challenging the traditional defence industry. Russia's war of aggression in Ukraine demonstrates the importance of civilian solutions in maintaining communications and situational awareness with satellites, drones, and crowd-sourced digital solutions. Shortages of ammunition and traditional defence systems have created a need to utilise dual-use solutions and use purely commercial systems in an innovative way. The war has also revealed a need for extremely fast innovation cycles and flexible ramp-up of production capacities. Traditional weapon systems are ageing faster as the time frame for developing and deploying countermeasures has tightened to months or even weeks.
This new and emerging market – New Defence – creates opportunities for start-ups, and small and mid-size companies to enter the defence sector, but also challenges traditional procurement methods of governmental security organisations.
In this webinar we will discuss the concept of New Defence through short presentations and a panel discussion.
Panel participants:
