Member Introduction: Senop

Senop provides advanced optoelectronics, demanding turnkey system integration services, as well as critical communication services and equipment for the defence, security, and industrial markets. Chief Technology Officer Jussi Rautiainen explains how DDE enhances Finland’s international brand and supports its members in expanding globally.

“By operating as a Finnish industry cluster, I believe DDE facilitates networking with similar clusters abroad. The number of members has doubled since our start, which will also enhance collaboration opportunities, provided that we know how to make the most of our member base. As one of the key players in Finland, DDE offers us significant networking opportunities with member companies, organizations, and research institutions."

What expertise do you offer?

"Our core strengths lie in imaging sensor technology and optronics products, such as advanced night vision solutions. Our capabilities cover everything from design and measurement techniques to production. We also produce optical components, including lenses and prisms. Additionally, we specialise in demanding system integration services to industry-leading defence and security players."

What are your expectations for DDE?

"We look forward to building and expanding international networks. Collaborative research and development projects within the ecosystem, particularly related to imaging and sensor technology, are of great interest to us. Large equipment systems, for instance, require expertise from various fields, and DDE provides valuable support in this area. In some projects, highly specific expertise is needed, and DDE helps in finding suitable partners for collaboration."

What benefits does DDE bring?

“Often, participating in large initiatives, such as those of the EU or NATO, requires forming some kind of business cluster. Most companies, like Senop, are quite small, but together we are stronger. It is important to understand how to leverage Finland's NATO membership and the opportunities it provides, and I believe that DDE is a good platform for this. Through DDE, we also stay up-to-date with developments and new directions."

What are your company’s future goals?

"We aim to be a significant company in the defence and security sector both in Finland and internationally. We have launched several new products, such as the Advanced Fire Control Sight (AFCD TI), specifically designed for Saab's Carl-Gustaf system. We see product exports as a key focus area. Our goal is to be internationally recognized, particularly as a provider of intelligent C4ISR solutions."
