Solita combines tech, data, and human insight to create customer value. The company’s technological expertise in digitalisation benefits other DDE members – Janne Niinivaara, Defence and Security Advisor at Solita, explains how.
"Digital solutions are not necessarily industry-specific; rather, our technological expertise can be applied in various areas beyond those we’ve worked in before. We have recognized that defence operators are one of these sectors. Unmanned systems and artificial intelligence are examples of the kinds of solutions we offer, and there has been a clear need for them."
Why are you a DDE member?
"We are particularly seeking export support from DDE. Although we are an international company, our defence business has so far been largely focused on Finland. We want to expand our business geographically. Building credibility in the global market becomes easier with the help of a larger community."
What benefits does DDE bring to Solita?
“The greatest benefit is networking with other companies and organizations. In other words, finding partners with whom we share common ground and potentially common interests. As a general technology company, it’s natural for us to collaborate with other partners and complement their expertise as a technology partner."
What are your thoughts on new defence?
"New defence isn't revolutionary – technology has always advanced, sometimes with catalysts that speed up progress. We're in such a phase now due to large-scale modern wars. New defence applies existing technology to new areas. Warfare demands updated operational models and mindsets, which isn’t always easy. DDE helps with that."
What are your expectations for DDE?
"DDE brings together relatively small operators, especially compared to American ones. In the global market we’re targeting, we need to compete. Having a community where smaller players’ expertise can combine into larger, impactful solutions is, in my opinion, DDE's main goal. And that we can work seamlessly together without barriers."
